– Olivia Nassanga tricked Owen Kawuki into believing she was pregnant with his child in order to obtain money from him.

– She was arrested and transferred to Mityana Prison, then to Mityana Magistrate’s Court for her bond obligation, where she collapsed. Rhoda Bukirwa, the deceased’s mother, accused Kawuki of being responsible for her daughter’s death.

A 19-year-old woman died after falling in court after being accused of faking a pregnancy in order to obtain money from a man. The woman was charged with misleading a man into believing she was pregnant with his child. Olivia Nassanga of Uganda’s Maanyi sub-county, Mityana District, was accused of defrauding Owen Kawuki by falsely claiming to be pregnant with his kid.

Nassanga reported to Mityana Magistrate’s Court on the day of the incident for her bail commitment after being released from Mityana Prison before falling in court. Rhoda Bukirwa, the deceased’s mother, accused Kawuki of being responsible for her daughter’s death.

“My daughter had appeared in court to take her bond when she was offered a drink by Kawuki, which we assume included some chemical compounds that could have caused her death,” she explained.

Bukirwa revealed that on her deathbed, her daughter told her that Kawuki had offered her a drink. “She told me Kawuki offered her a drink, explaining that their disagreements do not make them enemies.”

Stop ‘Faking it’ Start ‘Facing it’

A lawyer named Jamira Kalungi discovered the dead laying in court in an apparent poor state before her hearing session began. Kalungi notified the deceased’s lawyer, Apollo Kazungu, who was already in the courthouse waiting for the hearing to begin.

They transported Nassanga to the local health center, but because she was in critical condition, she was later transported to Mityana General Hospital, where she died. The suspect, Kawuki, was apprehended by police as the investigation began. The deceased’s body was transported to the Mityana General Hospital mortuary pending the results of a postmortem examination to determine the true cause of death.
